I'm a Rebel at Heart

I know most people my age are trying to figure out what they want from life, but I feel like I've already decided. I don't fit into the boxes society wants to put me in. Last week, I got an email from HR about our mandatory corporate volunteer day next month. And without even thinking twice, I deleted it and sent a fake confirmation reply saying I was totally on board. But here's the thing, I'm not planning on showing up. I find volunteering for causes that don't feel genuine to me feels like a waste of time. It's not because I dislike community service; there are issues I care deeply about, but this one doesn't hit home with me at all. Am I just being selfish? Or is it okay to pick and choose which volunteer efforts align with my personal values? What would you do in my situation?
