Customer Service Gone Awry

So I work at this big electronics store, and one day a guy comes in looking lost. He's wearing these really thick glasses that make his eyes look tiny, and he seems so unsure of himself that even the other employees are giving him space to breathe. I decide to help him out because, well, if there was ever someone who needs it, this is probably him. So I approach him and ask what he's looking for. He tells me he just wants to see what they have in Bluetooth speakers. I lead him over to our selection, but here’s the kicker: he starts asking questions that are kind of silly. Like how many watts a speaker has or if it comes with free Wi-Fi (it was so random and out there). It's one thing when someone is clueless but another when they’re just flat-out making things up as they go. Now, normally I’d be super patient, but there’s a queue behind this guy and the manager keeps giving me side-eyes. Plus, he’s been hanging around for almost an hour already. So I start getting annoyed and impatient, kind of like when you see someone not using both lanes at checkout with a basket full of stuff. Then he asks something that just pushes me over the edge: 'Does this speaker play vinyl records?' No joke. I snap. Not yelling or anything dramatic, but more like an exasperated sigh and saying in such a tone that even my colleagues notice, ‘Sir, most Bluetooth speakers do not support vinyl records. They’re meant for digital music formats like MP3s.’ I feel bad as soon as the words leave my mouth because his face falls instantly, he was really excited about this idea of playing old records on modern gadgets. It’s one of those moments where you think, 'Did I just ruin someone's day?' But before I can apologize or do anything else to make it better, he thanks me curtly and walks out. So yeah, that’s my confession: I lost my cool with a customer who was only trying to find something. Not exactly the best moment in a career built on helping people.
