New in Town, Not So Great at Small Talk

So I moved to this new city a couple of months ago, and trying to make friends has been an interesting adventure. Yesterday, I was introduced to some neighbors by our landlord. We all sat around awkwardly until one person asked if I'd checked out any local parks yet. Now, in truth, the idea of exploring random green spaces hasn't exactly sparked joy, I prefer to avoid crowds and just stay inside where it's quiet with my books. But instead of saying 'no' like a normal person might, I lied and said 'Oh yeah, absolutely! The other day I found this beautiful spot by the river. It’s breathtaking.' And guess what? Now everyone is looking at me as if I’m some kind of local outdoor expert. So here's my confession: I've been fibbing about knowing the city parks like the back of my hand just to avoid feeling left out and awkward in these new social situations. I probably won't go there anytime soon, but at least now when someone mentions a park, I feel slightly less out of place.
