I Pranked My Classmate With A Fake Pet Snake...

So there I was, sitting in my middle school homeroom one morning. Our class is always super early for some reason and it’s like 7:30 AM but feels more like the middle of the night. Anyway, we were just chilling at our desks when I had this idea. It was so good, you know? See, Jake from down the hall always brags about his big collection of rocks and fossils that he keeps in a display case near the front of his room. I thought to myself, wouldn’t it be hilarious if there was something even more interesting right next to that display... like a pet snake? So I convinced my cousin who lives nearby to bring over this plastic toy snake she had. It looked real enough and I snuck into Jake’s classroom the day before during lunch with our janitor buddy (he knows all the secrets about moving stuff around without getting in trouble). The next morning, I walked into homeroom and saw everyone huddled near Jake’s display case, pointing at something. And there it was...the fake snake! Everyone thought it was a real pet that had somehow gotten loose overnight. There were even some screams. I got to class late after pretending to be investigating the situation outside in the hall (I ran to my locker from across campus). Jake was fuming but also laughing so hard at how everyone fell for it. But then came the awkward part - having to tell him what I did and seeing his reaction. He just looked at me like ‘you’re one of those pranksters huh?’ But then he cracked up again, saying something about how my dad was a magician back in the day... So am I the asshole for playing this practical joke? Did it cross any lines or should we all laugh it off and call it a funny little moment in school history? Let me know what you think...
