..I Let My Kids Think I'm Better at Video Games Than I Am..

So... last week my teenagers were talking about a new online game they've been playing with their friends. They got really excited about it, and I thought maybe this was something we could do together as a family... but to be honest, I have no idea how to play these games. It's like another language to me. So here's the thing: instead of telling them I don't know how to play, I said, "Oh, yeah? That sounds easy!" and started making up rules as we went along... just hoping they wouldn't notice that I had no idea what I was doing. And you know what happened? They kind of got into it because I was so enthusiastic about something new... but then after a while, I realized they were starting to catch on that maybe I wasn't playing as well as the others. One time when we all played together online with friends, my kids laughed at me for doing something completely wrong in the game. Since then, every time we talk about it or plan to play again, there's this awkward pause where they look at me like, 'Is Mom going to try and bluff her way through again?' It's kind of embarrassing. I don't want them to think I'm not cool enough... but lying about something so silly feels really juvenile. But here's the funny part: last night while my husband was out working late, they decided to surprise me by setting up a gaming session at home. Instead of admitting I didn't know how to play, I pretended it was going to be like a grand debut where all their friends were waiting for me to show off... only problem is, when we started playing, they saw right through the facade and now everyone's in on the joke. So here I am... trying to figure out if it's better to just laugh along with them or if I should just own up to being a fraud at this game. Any advice?
