The Lie That Got Me Out Of A Jam

I had been saving money to replace my car's tires and was so close to the goal. Then came this unexpected bill from work, $100 for a missed deadline. I panicked because there was no way I could cover it without compromising my savings... So I lied and said I lost the company’s old laptop instead, claiming I had to pay out of pocket since we didn’t have insurance on it... I felt terrible doing it but somehow managed to keep the lie going until a week later when they found out about a spare backup in storage. Even now, I still feel guilty each time someone asks if everything’s alright with my finances.
