A Mistaken Gift

When I was younger, my grandpa used to give us all these amazing birthday presents. They always knew exactly what we wanted and made us feel so special with thoughtful gifts each year. As time went by though, he started struggling a bit more, mentally and physically. My cousin’s birthday rolled around last week, and I felt that same pressure to get something perfect. But when the day came, I mistakenly grabbed an item meant for me instead of him from my own wish list. Before I could catch myself, it was wrapped up with a bow in his name and on its way over. Now there's no denying he’ll notice something is off about this gift compared to what grandpa normally picks out for him, but here’s the thing: It’s still going to be just as appreciated. After all, when family gives you a present from their own hearts, it doesn’t really matter where that heart leads them.
