Forgot About My Little Sister's Party

So this happened a few weeks ago. I was supposed to help my sister celebrate her birthday party. She’s just eight years old and was super excited about it. But then, work got really hectic at the last minute, and I kind of…forgot about it for a little while. When I remembered, I felt so bad that I lied and told her I had some emergency stuff to take care of. I even bought her a couple of toys later as an apology gift because she was sad when she found out from my parents how disappointed she was. It wasn’t the best thing to do, but hey, it’s happened before with other family events too. Now every time I see her birthday photos or hear people talk about how much fun everyone had without me there, a little guilt pokes at me again.
