Shift Overlap Blues

Every day this week, I've been staying late at work to cover extra shifts for my coworkers who called in sick. I thought being a nurse was stressful enough, but now it feels like a never-ending cycle of patients and paperwork with no end in sight. Today, when the night shift nurse finally showed up two hours later than planned, I just wanted to cry or laugh. Instead, I tried not to let my exhaustion show while taking care of everyone else. It's been tough, but maybe this is what it feels like to have a real team and be there for each other.
