The Bug in My Code

Woke up early to fix the bug in our project's database code before my boss noticed. Spent hours crafting an email saying someone else must have caused it and that I found the solution, but now I feel bad for not owning up right away. It was just a small fib, though, is everyone as petty as this when under pressure?
