New City Blues

So I just moved to this new city and honestly, it’s like stepping into a world where nobody knows my name. Great for privacy, terrible for making friends. Today, while trying to order coffee at a local café, the barista asked if I was new in town because I ‘looked lost.’ Now, is everyone this friendly or am I just an obvious tourist? Advice needed: How do you quickly blend into a city without pretending to know your way around when you clearly don’t? Is it normal to feel like a total outsider for months?
