I'm Not So Great at Small Talk

So there I was at my cousin’s wedding, trying to blend into a wall while everyone chatted and laughed around me. My family is one of those loud, bubbly types who can talk about the weather for hours with nothing but excitement. Me? Well, I’d rather be reading the back of a cereal box than talking about it. Anyway, my Aunt Margaret cornered me at some point because she was looking to catch up on my life. Cue the panic attack as I frantically tried to think of anything, anything!, to say that wouldn’t involve the weather or sports. So what did I do? I confessed to her during our 'catch-up' conversation that my most embarrassing hobby is watching those home renovation shows where people take apart their entire house and start from scratch just so they can put in a larger kitchen island. And yes, I actually said it out loud: “Oh, Aunt Margaret! So glad you asked about my life. The truth is...I have this odd fascination with these home remodeling TV shows. It’s like my own little therapy session.” Of course, she just laughed and told me to go for it if I ever felt the urge to tear down a wall or two in my apartment. And then she walked away, probably thinking, 'Well, that was interesting...'
