I Ate the Last Cookie Without Telling Anyone

So I did this thing that was super dumb, but also kind of funny? Mom bought a big pack of chocolate chip cookies on sale last week and left them out for everyone. Well, today when I got home from school, there were only two left, one of them with just like half the cookie. And it looked amazing, you know? The best part is that these are my favorite kind, and I was totally starving because lunch was terrible. So here’s what happened: I grabbed the last cookie, stuffed it into my mouth in about three seconds flat, and then had this weird panic moment where I thought ‘Oh no! What do I say when someone asks?’ And you know how sometimes when you’re afraid of getting in trouble for something little like that, your mind just goes crazy? Like, what if everyone thinks I’m a monster for eating the last cookie? So, I figured out this super genius plan. You see, when my sister came home and asked where all the cookies were, I said ‘I heard dad ate them before he left work earlier!’ And she was like, ‘What!?’ But by that point, I had already thought of an even better idea! When mom got back from running errands and saw only one cookie left, I told her I put it away for her in the fridge. Which is technically true because I did move the crumbs, right? But still...I can’t help but feel a little guilty when everyone starts talking about baking more cookies now. Still, if someone finds out, I’m sticking to my story! I mean, what are they gonna do, make me eat like twenty new cookies as punishment?
