My New Painting Habit Is Driving Me Crazy (and My Neighbors Too?)

So, I started painting a few months ago. It all seemed innocent enough at the time, I was just trying something new to relieve stress after work. Now I find myself spending hours every evening in my studio apartment slinging paint around on canvases that might one day be art. Thing is, my neighbors are not exactly thrilled with me right now. The building is old and has thin walls, and let's just say there are some loud painters out there. Every time I go to mix colors or clean brushes, they hear it through the shared wall like a war zone of water splashing and paint scraping. But here’s where it gets awkward: A few weeks back, one of my neighbors who lives right next door (let's call her Jane) came over with an armful of flowers. She seemed so friendly! We chatted for a bit about the noise, and she was all like, ‘Oh no worries at all! Just go crazy, paint away!’ I felt bad but also relieved that someone understood me. So now I’m torn between thinking maybe it’s totally fine to just keep doing my thing, or wondering if Jane is secretly plotting to come back with a sledgehammer instead of flowers. I’ve asked around online about whether painting has to be this noisy and no one seems to know for sure. Some say yes, others insist that silent brushes are a myth. Am I the asshole for potentially driving my neighbors batty? Or am I just an artist in the making who needs more soundproofing advice?
