My Embarrassing School Lunch Mishap

So I’ve been thinking a lot about this thing that happened back in high school. It was such an innocent mistake, but it still haunts me sometimes when I think about how everyone must have seen me as the kid who couldn’t even manage their own lunch box properly. One day, we had this big field trip to a science museum, and I was so excited. But when I opened my lunch bag, instead of finding the sandwich and juice box I packed that morning, there were these two random pieces of cake that I can only imagine someone else left in there by accident or maybe even on purpose. The thing is, I didn’t have time to check everything because we had this strict schedule for the museum visit, so when I got back home from school and opened my bag again, it was just me and the cake. But then, right as I started eating, my dad walked in the room. He looked at me like he was about to burst out laughing or maybe start asking all these questions, but instead, he just made a face that told me everything without saying anything at all. It’s been years since then, and it still feels weird talking about it now because I’m not sure if people even remember something so small from back in high school. Sometimes, though, when I see someone open up their lunch box at work or in a restaurant and the contents are totally normal and perfectly fine, I can’t help but think back to that day and how silly I must have looked. Oh well, better to laugh about it now than hide it forever.
