Another Day in the Life

You know that feeling when you go into work and everything seems so pointless? Yeah, I had one of those days today. I mean, it's not like teaching isn't important, it is! But sometimes, I just feel like what am I really accomplishing? It's not that the kids aren't good or that they don't learn anything; it's more like, are we making a dent in this big world of problems and issues outside our classroom walls? And you know, every time another kid comes to me with some personal issue or another, my heart just breaks a little bit. But then I think, 'Hey, at least they have someone who listens.' And that's the good part, right? It's not much, but it's something. Maybe one day it will be enough.
