My Roommate Thinks I'm So Organized

Hey everyone, this is Alex. I’ve been living in my college dorm for about three months now and things have been going pretty smoothly, except when it comes to one thing that’s really bothering me. You see, I moved into the dorm with this reputation of being super organized because back home, I had everything neatly tucked away where it belonged. But here at school, I’m struggling to keep up with my studies and all these new responsibilities, let alone maintaining a spotless room. The real story is that I’ve been kind of messy lately, but I hide it from my roommate, Mia. When she’s around, I try my best to put everything in place so she doesn’t think less of me or report me for not following the dorm rules. Last week, when Mia went out with her friends, I got lazy and just threw everything on the floor again. But then one night, a campus officer came by checking for fire hazards and found our room messy. Mia was super stressed about it because she thought she’d get in trouble for being disorganized and not keeping up appearances. I felt terrible after that. My roommate is so sweet and kind to me, she’s always helping out or offering snacks, but here I am lying and hiding behind my facade of perfection. It feels like a huge burden and I don’t know how much longer I can keep it up.
