Forgot Granddaughter's Birthday

I forgot my granddaughter's birthday this year. I mean, who does that? It was last week and everything. I thought about it a couple of times but then got distracted by the newspaper or whatever. Now her parents are upset. Of course they are. They said something about spoiling her properly next time, which is weird because I always do spoil her with sweets and toys. But maybe not this year. Maybe she won't even notice? She's thirteen now, doesn't need my silly gifts anyway. Still feels bad though.
