I Lied About My Birthday At The Candy Store
Anonymous Suspicious Snitch #194 · General
So there's this one candy store near where I work that sells all sorts of cool treats. Every year they have a birthday discount, and I've been getting the same amount off every single year for like 6 years now. But here's the thing, my real birthday is in November. So why did I lie about it? Because I love chocolate and candy so much, but I'm trying to cut back on sweets. Lying seemed easier than skipping out on all that goodness when they have a special going on. Plus, you know how retail jobs are, it's rare to get extra perks or discounts, right? Anyway, this year when my friend asked me what day my birthday was coming up, I just went with the one closest to the candy store’s sale date: August 15th. It feels weird because even though it's a small lie, every time I walk in there now and they ask me if I'm excited for my upcoming birthday discount, this tiny voice in my head whispers that I might get caught someday. But hey, who doesn't love chocolate? The guilt is real, but it's also kind of hilarious when you think about how silly it all sounds. And every time I pass by their sign saying 'Happy Birthday to Our Sweethearts,' a little part of me cringes, while another part is just too excited for the discount that keeps coming back each year.
