I Broke My Little Brother's Special Toy
Anonymous Elusive Flirt #240 · General
So last weekend, we were home for the holidays and everyone was around. It was supposed to be a nice family time, but let me tell you, it doesn't always work out that way. My little brother, Tim, has this toy he got for his birthday - it’s basically just an action figure from one of those popular TV shows. But for him, it's more than a toy; it’s like his best friend or something. He talks to it all the time and even takes it with him wherever he goes. Anyway, so we were all sitting around playing cards and talking when Tim came in with this huge grin on his face. Of course, he had that stupid action figure with him. I mean, what does one do with an action figure besides play with it? So here's the thing - my brother is pretty much a kid at heart no matter how old he gets. He thinks everything is fun and games. But me? Well, let’s just say not so much. Anyway, during this card game, I was getting annoyed because Tim kept asking to borrow cards from everyone while his action figure sat there like it had some sort of importance or something. So I made a joke at the expense of both him and that stupid toy - said they should all be in a museum instead of here playing cards. Well, my little brother was not happy about that. He got all quiet and then he left the room. The next thing I know? A big crash comes from upstairs where his room is. I went to check it out, and there's Tim sitting on the floor in tears with pieces of what used to be his action figure scattered everywhere. I felt terrible, just terrible. I didn't mean for him to take it so personally or break his toy like that. But how do you fix something like this? How do you make things right when you accidentally hurt someone close to you? Ever since then, Tim won’t even look at me, and every time I see pieces of that toy lying around or in the trash, it makes my heart sink. I just don't know how to make things better. Should I try? What would you do?
