Socks Are Overrated

So, here's this, I've been working in retail for a few years now at a big box store. We sell everything from electronics to snacks and you know how we have all those bins of socks at the checkout? Well, one day I just had enough of them. I was helping someone who couldn't decide between eight different pairs of socks, and it got me thinking: why does anyone need that many? The thing is, this person didn't have a clue about socks. They were asking if they could wear one black sock and one brown sock because the brown ones 'looked cooler.' And then they asked if their feet would get cold in winter with no socks at all. I wanted to tell them how impractical that was, but instead, I just decided to mentally label every customer as a potential sock connoisseur from there on out. It's kind of ridiculous, looking back.
