confessions of an awkward person

so i went to this coffee shop the other day and there was this cute barista that i just wanted to talk to for like hours omg but my hands were all sweaty and i couldnt even hold a normal conversation without stuttering its so embarrassing. anyways, i ordered my usual americano and tried to strike up some kind of conversation while they were making my drink and stuff and it was bad, really bad. i kept asking them about the weather which is super lame but at least it was safe right? so anyways i asked them if it rained last night because im terrible with small talk and stuff like that and they just kinda smiled and said yeah a bit of rain in the morning before work, how about you? and then i had no idea what to say back because i actually dont check weather apps or anything and just kind of guessed there was rain because it looked gloomy when i woke up. so instead of admitting my guess was wrong i just nodded and said yeah a bit here and there and tried to change the subject by asking about their work day but that ended up being super awkward too b/c they had a long one with customers complaining and stuff like that and i just sat there wondering how long id have to stay before it felt rude to leave. oh my god im so bad at this kind of thing omg
