My Silly Office Prank Went Too Far

I still can't believe I let myself get carried away with that prank at work. My colleague Alex was playing music too loudly on their computer, so I thought it would be funny to install a program that automatically lowers the volume whenever they opened Spotify. It worked like a charm, but then things spiraled out of control when my tech-savvy boss overheard about the program and confronted me. She wasn't impressed, especially after she found out about all the other little tweaks I'd been making under the guise of 'helping', like setting up automatic coffee orders for everyone. Now Alex knows something happened behind their back, even if they don't know exactly what, and my boss is not happy with me. I feel so guilty now, but at the time it just seemed like such a clever idea.
