Today's Lunch Table Drama

So today during lunch at school, this whole thing happened with my friend Jamie. We were sitting at our usual spot and I was eating a sandwich that my mom packed for me. She always packs these really weird sandwiches like tuna with pineapple, which is super weird but kind of good in a weird way. Anyway, so Jamie starts going on about how she’s secretly been watching some guy from another class since the start of school. She says he just smiles at her every day when they pass each other and it's making her go crazy. I’m like, 'Girl, you’re overthinking it,' but then she pulls out this heart-shaped necklace she got for him from the dollar store and hands it to me to hide for her until tomorrow. Of course, right as we start talking about it, our friend Sarah walks by and sees Jamie with the necklace. Next thing I know, there's a full-blown rumor going around that Jamie has a secret crush on Mr. Johnson, our math teacher! And guess who’s laughing at all of this? Probably nobody but me trying to explain to everyone that she actually likes this guy from another class, and it's not even true that we have any kind of secret message in the necklace.
