I Did Something That Made Me Quit My Barista Job

So, I recently quit my job at the local coffee shop where I had worked for almost two years. It wasn't because of the work environment or pay, it was due to something that happened one day when I was really stressed out and tired from working an extra shift on a Sunday evening. The rush in the afternoon is always hectic, but this particular day was worse than usual. People were complaining about their orders, there were newbies at the counter getting flustered with customers demanding service immediately, and to top it off, I got stuck behind an order for six cups of coffee that all had to be made differently. As if we have time to make six separate drinks in such a rush! Anyway, so the last straw was when this lady came up to me during my break, yes, my break, and started demanding her drink right away because she 'wasn't sure about the taste.' I mean, come on! There's no way we'd have wasted a perfectly good coffee if it tasted bad; people just think their tastes are so unique and special that they must be getting a uniquely tailored drink. The lady was really pushy and started waving her money in my face. I lost it right there. Told her to go get another drink at the next shop down because this one wasn't good enough for her, which of course made things worse when she complained to our manager. But I felt justified, she had no right to disrupt my break and treat me like a servant who should cater exclusively to her whims. The manager tried to calm things down by promising refunds and discounts, but all it did was make me angrier because the system is so broken in favor of these entitled customers. So after two weeks of tension and resentment towards both the management for not doing enough to support staff and the customers who think their every whim should be met with a smile, I handed in my resignation letter. I feel guilty about how badly I treated that lady, but honestly, it feels good to have finally let go of a job that was draining me. Sometimes you just need to stand up for yourself.
