When I Made My Boss Look Like a Noob in Front of Everyone

So there I was, working my usual shift at this big-box electronics store. The floor's pretty crowded on weekends, but that day, it was busier than ever, the kind where customers are all over you from opening to closing time. And then came the moment that made me feel like the boss of customer service: a group of people walked in asking for something complicated, some advanced VR headset setup or another one of those new gadgets. My manager walked up and tried to answer their questions, but he clearly had no clue what he was talking about. He’s been around for years, but when it comes to tech, his knowledge is more like 1998-level stuff. As the customers started looking at him with a mix of confusion and pity, I couldn’t just let him flounder. So I stepped in and showed them exactly how it worked. It was like that scene from The Karate Kid where Mr. Miyagi beats up all those big guys who think they’re tough because they're tall, except instead of karate chops, I was demonstrating the intricacies of gaming controllers and virtual reality. Afterward, there were a few awkward moments with my boss, but I’m not sorry at all for stepping in. If anything, it showed that even though he’s been around longer than me, sometimes fresh eyes or new knowledge can really help out customers better. Plus, they ended up buying three of the devices after my demo. Anyway, here's to being unafraid to be smarter about some things and not afraid to show off a bit when it helps others.
