New Kid in Town, Feeling Lost and a Bit Scared
Anonymous Elusive Scoundrel #396 · General
So I just moved to this big new city for work, and man, it's like being back in high school all over again. You know that feeling where you're staring at the crowd of people and wondering if anyone even sees you? Well, multiply that by a thousand and throw in navigating the subway system on your own for the first time. I walked into my new office on day one and got completely lost trying to find my desk. Everyone was so nice and pointed me in the right direction, but it felt like they were all thinking 'Really, rookie? Can't even find your cubicle?' Plus, getting used to a city with no landmarks you recognize is tough, I walked past this really cool little coffee shop three times before realizing it was there. Oh, and then there's the small detail of trying not to bump into anyone on the street while holding my giant bag full of work stuff and a personal-sized pizza for lunch because... well, hello! Pizza is an essential part of moving across the country, right? Anyway, I'm starting to settle in now and figuring out that it’s okay if I don't know everything straight away. It's just funny looking back at all these little hiccups while trying to get my feet under me.
