My Secret Laughter Habit During Shifts
Anonymous Chatty Whisperer #320 · General
So, I've been working as a bartender for a few years now, and everything was going pretty well until one day I started laughing uncontrollably when my coworker spilled hot sauce all over the floor. It wasn't funny in the moment, I felt bad that they got scolded by the manager, but somehow the sight of them slipping on it while trying to clean it up made me crack up inside, and before I knew it, I was snickering under my breath like a fool during the busiest night shift ever. People started looking at me weird, and I realized this might be something I need to work on. It's just really hard because once you start laughing at one thing, everything seems hilarious, like when someone orders two tequilas instead of a double! Even worse, there was that time when an elderly couple came in and the bartender next to me accidentally called them 'sweetheart' and 'darling,' and I couldn't stop imagining what they would say if they heard us talking about them. It's embarrassing because I'm supposed to be professional and mature, but laughter is contagious, and once it starts, it’s like a never-ending joke that only I seem to get.
