The Day I Became The Substitute Teacher's Best Friend

So today, Ms. Carter was sick and they sent in this substitute who looked like he should be working at a diner, not teaching high school history. But let me tell you, by the end of the day, we were best buds! It all started when I handed him my notes on World War II battles (the real ones) instead of the one-paragraph summary that was due. He laughed and said it reminded him of his own college days, yeah right, like any teacher has a clue about student life. But then he noticed how the whole class zoned out during his lectures and decided to play a game where we matched countries with their capital cities and flags. I mean, who knew I could make an entire map of Europe in my head? And when it was time for lunch, guess who joined us at our table? The sub! We talked about everything, sports, movies, even which snacks he liked best (it turns out he loves Sour Patch Kids too). By the end, I was convinced this was the greatest day ever and he promised to visit again. Of course, I probably won't see him next week, but for now, it's all good vibes and a new appreciation for how you can make friends in the most unexpected places.
