Lost My Best Friend Over A Trivial Thing

I think everyone has that one moment in life when they look back and wonder if it was really worth the drama. For me, it happened last week during a game of Capture the Flag at school. Alex and I had been best friends forever, but we ended up having this silly argument over who got tagged first in a particularly rough match. It sounds so trivial now that it's all settled down, but back then, I felt like my whole world was crashing down around me. We both said things we didn't mean, and Alex walked off to hang out with other friends. I tried to apologize right away, but every time I opened my mouth, nothing came out. Now a week later, the playground feels different without her there to laugh and play with. It's just empty space, a reminder of something silly that got blown way out of proportion. Maybe I'll talk to Alex one day soon and see if we can fix things, but for now, every time I pass by our usual spot under the big oak tree, all I feel is sadness.
