The New Kid's Dilemma at Work

So, here's my story about the new job I started after moving to this big city. I guess you could call it a tale of awkwardness and mild revenge, or perhaps misguided bravery? Anyway, I'm in marketing, and everyone else had already been working there for months. They were all super friendly at first but seemed to forget I was even around once the initial welcome phase wore off. I got sick of being ignored and decided to do something about it. One day, we had a team meeting where they talked about launching a new product line, very exciting stuff! The boss asked for suggestions on how to market it. Most people were all about Instagram stories and TikTok challenges, which was fine but seemed a bit overdone. I wanted to stand out, so I said, 'What if we tried something old-school? How about sending handwritten letters with samples of the product?' Everyone looked at me like I'd suggested a literal fax machine instead of email. But guess what? The boss actually liked the idea! He said it was fresh and personal. And you know what happened next? My coworkers started coming to me for advice, asking if I had any other ideas. They even praised my handwriting as being really nice (which is true, my teachers used to praise my penmanship back in school). But here's the thing: they were doing it sarcastically. It was clear that they were just trying to mock me behind my back. So, last week, I decided to send out a few of those handwritten letters with product samples myself and had them addressed to a random mailing list we kept on file for promotional purposes. The next day, everyone got an email from the boss praising this new initiative and asking who it was that came up with such a great idea again. Of course, no one would admit they were mocking me, so I'm now being treated like some kind of marketing genius here. I know, I know, it sounds petty and maybe even a little dishonest, but honestly? It's kinda fun seeing everyone scramble to figure out how to be more creative without feeling stupid. I’m not sure if this will work long-term, or if anyone will figure me out anytime soon, but for now, I'm just going to enjoy the attention.
