Serving That One Cuppa Gone Wrong

Anonymous Winking Flirt #523 · General

So, okay, I was having one of those days when everything seems to go sideways. Customer after customer with all these intricate orders and requests that make you feel like a chef rather than a barista. And then there’s this guy who comes in and asks for the craziest drink ever, it had like three different syrups, special ice cubes, and extra foam on top. I mean, come on, really? I was already frazzled by the time he asked me to whip up his concoction. But you know what? That wasn’t even my biggest mistake of the day. Oh no, that came later when this elderly lady comes in looking for her usual and sweet, innocent as can be, but then out pops a slip from the register telling me there’s been an issue with her order from last week or something. I had to tell her that they messed up on purpose because someone didn’t put in their tip correctly. That was awkward. I mean, she seemed okay with it and all, but honestly? My heart sank when I saw her walking out of the shop looking a bit down. Anyway, back to the big blunder. Remember the crazy drink guy? Well, after he left, I had this momentary lapse of attention where I mixed up two drinks that looked very similar, one for him and one for someone else. It was just before closing time, so everyone else had already left, leaving me alone in a half-empty café. And do you know what happened next? Oh, God. I accidentally served his super-complicated drink to this poor woman who only wanted a regular iced coffee. She looked at it like it was an alien spacecraft! I tried to laugh it off and said something like, 'Well, there’s no way we can fix that mistake now,' but inside? My stomach dropped to the floor. I couldn’t believe I messed up in such a public way. It felt like everyone must have seen what happened, even though the place was nearly empty. And here I am still wondering how I could’ve let it slip through my fingers after a day of being so careful with other orders. Man, this has been on my mind all week. Every time I see that woman coming into the café, I get all jittery and hope she’s not going to say something about the weird drink she got last Tuesday. I know it was just an honest mistake, but sometimes these things stick with you way longer than they should.
