Home Sickness Strikes Hard

I miss home so much it hurts. Every time I see a familiar food or smell something that reminds me of my mom's cooking, my heart breaks a little more. The funny thing is, everyone here tells me to enjoy this independence and freedom. But all I want is to go back in time and never leave the safety of my room at home. It feels like every day without them gets harder to bear. Even seeing posts from friends on social media who are still with their families just makes me feel even more alone.
