My Neighbor's Wi-Fi Is My Friend

So I've been working from home for a few years now as a freelancer. It’s pretty chill, no commute, just me and my laptop. But the thing is, we moved into our house when the internet was already installed, and it turned out to be slower than molasses. Even before that, though, the first month of getting started on my own was rough, I had projects with tight deadlines and not having a solid connection meant I couldn’t meet them effectively. My productivity plummeted faster than you can say 'slow load time.' Fast forward to when we moved in next door to this guy who has an amazing internet package. His signal is so strong, it reaches our place like some kind of wi-fi oasis in the middle of a desert. At first, I thought about asking him if he could share his connection somehow. But then I got to thinking, 'What’s the harm?' and started using his network without permission. It's not exactly stealing since we're neighbors and all. Plus, it was just for a short while until I could afford an upgrade or get one set up properly. That said, there have been times when my neighbor has stopped by to chat about some community thing or another, and my first instinct is always to grab the laptop and make sure everything's logged out of his network before he sees. The guilt only hits me during quiet moments when I’m not actively working, I never feel bad while it’s happening. But there was this one time a year ago where we had an outage here at home for days, and I couldn’t get online until the next day when my neighbor came over with a smile on his face asking if everything was okay with our connection. I felt like a total hypocrite telling him yes, all while thinking about how much easier it would be if I just used his network again. Sometimes I wonder why I even feel bad, after all, every time I check the speed, there's enough bandwidth for both of us to use comfortably without any issues. So here’s my question: is this really that big a deal? Am I just overthinking it or is it actually wrong?
