Sometimes I slip up and say things to make others feel better, even if it's not the truth. Like when my friend Alex was complaining about a job they hate but need for money. I told them they were doing great work and would get promoted soon. Inside, I knew the job wasn't good for them at all, and telling white lies feels so hollow. But then Alex smiles, believing what I said, and it’s hard to take that back.
