I lied about doing the laundry

So I told my roommate that I did all of our laundry last week. It was just a little white lie to get some peace and quiet because she's been nagging me constantly, and let’s be honest, doing laundry is such a hassle. I mean, who has time for it? The truth is, I’ve been avoiding it because I’m scared that the whites won’t stay white or my favorite sweater might shrink in the wash. But now she thinks everything's clean when it’s piling up and starting to stink. And honestly, I feel a little guilty about lying, but not enough to actually do it myself yet. She keeps asking if I can take hers with me next time, which is great because that gives me more excuses to put off doing mine. I guess what bugs me the most is how much I’ve let this one thing define my entire week. It’s such a little thing in the grand scheme of life, but it feels like a mountain when you’re standing right there staring at your dirty clothes, and now she thinks I’m the responsible roommate because of my fib. I know deep down that I should just do it already, but part of me is terrified that once this lie becomes reality, once those clean clothes are sitting in the dryer, it’s game over for procrastination. I’ll have to be honest with her eventually though, right? What if she gets mad and tells me off? It feels like a small confession, but it weighs on me every time I think about those stinky socks in my room.
