My Secret Laughter Therapy Sessions at Work

So, you know how everyone talks about exercise or eating chocolate as a way to relieve stress? Well, I've got my own little trick that works wonders for me. Whenever the hospital gets super busy and the pressure's on, I sneak off for these secret laughter therapy sessions. No, not in front of patients! Just a quick dash out of the nurses' station, find an empty supply closet or a quiet corner, and let loose with some hearty belly laughs. Sometimes it’s just remembering old jokes my grandpa used to tell me; other times, I think about silly memes on social media that only really resonate with me. It might sound silly, but honestly, when I come back after one of these sessions, everything feels lighter, more manageable. I know, I know, it's not like taking a walk or having a good cry, but hey, sometimes you just gotta do what works for you. You see, there’s this one patient who keeps asking about the same thing over and over because she can’t remember we already talked about it earlier in the day. Normally, I’d be frustrated, but now I try to imagine her as a character from those old sitcoms where everything gets repeated for comedic effect, like ‘The Office’ or something. It helps me keep my patience, though sometimes I catch myself chuckling softly under my breath and have to excuse myself before the whole team catches on! Anyway, does anyone else do anything weird like this? Is it just me being nuts, or is laughing your way through a rough shift kinda normal too?
