I Spy on My Teens' Texts Sometimes

So here's the thing. I'm supposed to respect my kids’ privacy as they get older, but sometimes, uh, let’s just say I have a hard time sticking to that rule. Like last week, when I saw Emily texting about some party she wanted to sneak out to? I couldn't help myself, I read on to see who else was going and if she had any plans for sneaking back in without anyone knowing. It's not exactly something I'm proud of or want to repeat, but it feels like the right thing to do as a parent sometimes. And maybe it’s just because I’m curious, you know? She won't tell me half the stuff going on with her friends anymore.
