Spilled the Beans at Work Tonight

So last night at work, man, I was just trying to serve everyone as usual. It’s a pretty busy bar and I’m always on my toes, but still managing to keep things under control. Then comes in this group of friends who are regulars and totally harmless, except tonight they had more than their share of drinks. Anyway, one of them starts talking about this guy who apparently is dating his younger sister, which is like the last thing you want to gossip about when working a shift. So I start chatting with another bartender, just keeping it light. But then somehow my mouth gets ahead of me and I accidentally blurt out that their brother's ex-girlfriend actually dated my cousin once! And there goes all hope of us ever getting invited to the family barbecue. Luckily everyone laughed it off, but I swear, if that rumor makes its way around town, I might have to go into hiding. It’s bad enough knowing people will be speculating about connections between their clan and mine for months to come. Sometimes I wonder how much fun this job really is when you spend more time worrying about who knows what than anything else.
