I Gave My Little Brother a Fake Report Card

Okay, so I admit it. I gave my little brother a fake report card one time when he was in elementary school and told him he got straight A's. He was so excited because he really wanted to impress our parents with good grades. They had been pushing for better performance since he started struggling in math last year. The truth is, his actual grades weren't great, definitely Cs and a couple of Ds. I felt terrible about it afterwards but I thought he needed some kind of boost, you know? It was just supposed to be a fun prank, not something that would stick around for long. But then he started skipping recess to study, thinking the work in his classes was harder because he got fake A's. I ended up having to confess and tell him everything. He wasn't happy with me at all, but our parents were glad I was looking out for him. They just didn’t think it was the right way to do it. Now every time report cards come around, I feel guilty about what happened.
