Nursing Night Shifts Are Lonely...

Anonymous Coy Whisperer #596 · General

I've been working night shifts in the emergency room for over six months now. Sometimes it's hard, because there are long stretches of nothing happening at all. Just me, my thoughts, and the faint hum of life support machines.... I started doing this job thinking I'd connect with everyone who comes through here, but instead, I've ended up connecting more to the quiet between patients than anything else.... I guess what I'm trying to say is that despite being around people all night long every other day of the week, on my nights off, it's like no one ever was there at all. The emptiness can be a little overwhelming sometimes...
