I Might Be the Asshole Here

So I started this new job a few weeks back at the local tech firm. It's pretty much my dream job, all about coding and web development, exactly what I wanted to do since college. Everyone seemed friendly enough during orientation, but I still felt like I was standing out, you know? The kind of newbie who might be making mistakes without even knowing it. Anyway, today we had a team meeting where they gave us our first project. It's this big website redesign for one of their clients. Our manager split everyone into groups and assigned me to work with Jane, another new hire, and Mark, someone who has been there since the beginning. The thing is, I thought it would be a good idea to start by reviewing all the code from last year’s project because I wanted to make sure we're doing everything right this time around. So after lunch, I went digging through our old files on the server and found what I was looking for. It's all there, neat little folders with notes in them about what worked well and what didn't. Great stuff, really useful to have it all laid out like that. But when I tried sending a link to Jane and Mark so we could start discussing tomorrow morning, my email bounced back saying the file had been moved or deleted. I felt terrible, here's this big project starting up, and one of our most important resources might be missing? And now it seems like someone else in the company needs to fix something because I asked for a file that isn't there. Could I have been so clueless as to not realize we needed special clearance or permissions to access old files? Maybe I just jumped into things too quickly without asking around first? All day long, my mind keeps going back to whether it was okay for me to think this way and act like that in the first place. Did I overstep boundaries without meaning to cause a problem? It's eating at me so much that I don't even know if I can face everyone tomorrow when we go over the project again.
