I told my kid's teacher she was being unfair

today after picking up my kids from school, we sat down to do homework and i could tell they were super frustrated with their teacher for giving them what seemed like an impossible assignment. so naturally, without thinking much about it, i decided to give her a call and let her know how upset they felt. i explained that this task just didn't make sense considering the time frame given and how stressful it was making our family evenings. surprisingly enough, she sounded pretty understanding on the phone, not defensive or anything at all. yeah sure i might have overreacted a little bit by getting involved like that instead of letting my kids handle their own issues with her directly. but honestly, i just couldn't stand seeing them so upset over something they felt wasn't fair. and now at least we know she's willing to hear us out if there are more problems down the road. i guess this is how parents end up being advocates for their kids sometimes.
