Why I Gave My Kids Ice Pops for Dinner

I told them it was a special treat after soccer practice. It felt like such a lie because they were expecting real dinner, but there was just no way to make anything with the kids' schedules tonight. So here we are, eating sugar and watching TV in our pajamas at 7 PM on a Tuesday night. I tried to spin it as something fun and new, ice pops for dinner!, but I know they were disappointed. I guess sometimes I feel like a terrible parent when all I really wanted was peace tonight instead of another round of dinner battles.
