Can't Stop Staring at My New Colleague's Desk

So last week was honestly one of those weeks that felt like it would never end. Everything from the meeting with the clients who just didn't understand our product to the endless stream of emails demanding immediate attention had me on edge all day long. But, amidst all this chaos, something unexpected and totally silly happened. I have a new colleague, Alex, who started just a couple of weeks ago. From my first impression, he seemed pretty quiet but really knowledgeable about our industry stuff. We’re in the same department, but it’s one huge open office space with lots of desks all around. So I’ve had to walk by his desk multiple times for meetings and stuff. Here's what makes me feel like an absolute idiot: Every single time I pass by his desk or am even near him, my heart starts racing and I can't help but stare at everything he has on his desk! It's weird, because before Alex started, that was literally never a thing. But now? If there’s anything to see, new books, photos from his weekend trip, any little trinket, he has me practically glued to the spot. The craziest part is that I haven’t even said more than three sentences to him beyond polite greetings. I feel like such a goofball thinking about it, I mean, does he notice? Does anyone else notice how much I’m looking at his desk every day? It’s probably super obvious and maybe even rude. So here’s my confession: Every time I walk past Alex's desk, I can’t stop staring because I can't help but be totally captivated by all the little things he puts out there. I guess I just find him interesting, and yeah, that’s a bit embarrassing to say out loud.
