When I Took My Teens' Keys Without Telling Them

I did something that might seem a bit over the top to some parents out there. My teenagers are always going out with their friends, driving around late at night, and let's be honest, not paying attention to traffic rules as much as they should be. One night, I decided enough was enough, I took both of their car keys without telling them where they were or why. They spent a whole weekend looking for them everywhere before figuring out that maybe the key-hoarder was mom or dad all along. It made me feel like a sneaky ninja but also like I might be overstepping my parenting boundaries, especially since my teens are old enough to make their own decisions. So here's what I'm wondering: is this just normal parental worry and protection, or am I being overly controlling? What would you all do in the same situation? Is it okay to take drastic measures when you're worried about your kids' safety?
