My Kids Don't Need A Nap Anymore...

I used to look forward to nap time. It was a break from constant questions about why the sky is blue and how long until dinner. I could finally have a moment of peace, pour myself another cup of coffee, or just sit quietly for five minutes without being interrupted by tiny voices asking what 'infinite' means. But now they're all grown up... the older one's in high school and the younger one's learning to read on their own. There's no nap time anymore and sometimes I miss it.... It seems so long ago that I had a chance to just sit back and relax for a while, even if it was just with my thoughts. Now they're at every moment of my life, growing up faster than I can keep track of... sometimes I catch myself longing for those moments back when all I wanted was a quiet cup of coffee.
