When I Accidentally Stashed Extra Cans of Soda in the Storage Room

So here's this thing that happened at work last week. You know how when you're working retail, sometimes things go a bit haywire? Well, one day I was supposed to order more soda cans for the store because we were running low. But, long story short, my boss and I got into an argument about something completely unrelated, and she ended up canceling my order request before sending it off. I wasn't happy about this at all. Soda sales have been terrible lately anyway, so I thought maybe if we had some extra cans on hand, we could run a promotion or something to give us that boost we needed. But the powers that be weren't having any of it. Anyway, fast forward a couple days later and I was in the back room restocking items. We got an unexpected shipment of candy bars and I had to put them away somewhere safe until they were ready for the shelves. The storage room where we keep extra supplies had these big empty spots behind other boxes that looked just like where we store soda cases, but with nothing else around. And there it was: a brilliant idea flashed in my head. Why not stash some of our own soda back here? I mean, the shipment had already been paid for and no one ever goes in this room unless absolutely necessary (like during an inventory count). So off I went to the front of the store to take out about five or six cases from undercounted sales we made last week. I brought them all back and hid them behind those candy bars. If anyone asks, I'll just say they were used in a floor display that's not happening anytime soon. It wasn't exactly stealing because it was technically still company property (albeit unsold), but still... now every time I go into the storage room to grab something else, my stomach knots up thinking about those soda cans just sitting there waiting for someone to spot them. So here’s to hoping my boss doesn’t check in back too often. At least it'll give us a little surprise boost of cash flow one day if things start going south again.
