I Got Suspended for 'Defacing' a Teacher's Whiteboard Note

Anonymous Nosy Gossip #841 · General

So I think everyone knows that my class is divided. Half of us are the “good” kids who like to follow all the rules, and then there’s me and a few others who prefer to make our own path. Last week, Ms. Johnson posted this big, long note on the whiteboard. She said it was for an upcoming project we’d work on in class but honestly? It looked more like she was trying to control every single aspect of how we should think about the assignment. Like, who does she think she is? Anyway, I’ve had enough of her micro-managing our projects. We have ideas too! So when everyone else left at lunch for recess, I decided it was time to take matters into my own hands. I grabbed a red marker and wrote over parts of the note that seemed especially restrictive, like where she said we couldn’t talk to other kids about their project or use materials outside what she provided. Then I added a few doodles of her looking frustrated because honestly? It’s kind of funny how worked up she gets. I thought it was genius at first, until the bell rang and half my class started staring at me like I’d committed some crime against nature itself. By the time Ms. Johnson came back, I knew there would be consequences. Sure enough, she called me into her office after school and then gave me a suspension for “defacing” school property. But you know what? If I get in trouble for speaking up, so be it. It wasn’t about breaking the rules; it was about making a statement. And hey, if other kids are too scared to say anything because they think everyone will judge them, that’s on them, not me. Sometimes, taking risks is worth it.
