still so homesick

i am supposed to be loving college and the freedom but i really miss my family like crazy. i have a roommate who is nice but she has her own thing going on and i feel like this big empty dorm room just reminds me how much i miss home and my bed and everything about being with them. it feels weird though because everyone talks about independence and growing up but i am just so stuck in this constant state of homesickness and wondering when the next time will be that i can come back and see everyone again.
